The WHO IYCF core indicator reports continued breastfeeding at 1 year. In emergencies, it is important to also monitor continued breastfeeding rate at 2 years (WHO IYCF optional indicator) as children 1-2 years are also at significant risk of increased morbidity and mortality if not breastfed in this context.
