The approach capitalized in this guide focuses on the fight against malnutrition from a multi-sector approach to deal with the problem comprehensively. Thus, the main areas of intervention are, in addition to malnutrition itself, food security, hygiene and sanitation, psychological first aid, and the economic empowerment of women. Projects based on this approach work to:
• an improvement in the consumption of foods with the greatest nutritional contribution,
• strengthening knowledge on the health of women in families,
• productive capacities,
• increase in household income.
Therefore, the main difference between this holistic approach and others focused on emergency response lies in its sustainability, effectiveness and efficiency in the medium term.
